CJGrout 30NHL

Compaction Grout

CJGrout 30NHL is a moderate speed, low mobility grout tailored for medium duty lifting applications and compaction grouting of soils.  It is most common for settlement correction in the transportation market, and especially for compaction grouting. Past projects include rigid concrete pavement settlement correction on I-85 in Spartanburg, South Carolina for SCDOT, and compaction grouting of bridge approach fills on the GW Parkway for the FHWA in Arlington, Virginia.  30NHL performs equally well in wet or dry environments.

Typical Uses

The most common use for this geotechnical polyurethane grout is correcting settlement in moderate to heavy load applications. This is primarily in the transportation market, on projects like bridge approach lifting, and pavement belly correction. Depending on the cause of settlement, CJGrout 30NHL is injected directly below settled pavement, and/or injected up to 25′ deep into underlying soils. Injecting 30NHL into soil can significantly increase its bearing capacity, and also reduce its permeability.

Physical Properties

With a bearing capacity of 11.5KSF, this grout is suitable for use under transportation loading. The free rise density is 3lb/cuft. The packed density is around 6lb/cuft. Packed, the bearing capacity increases to more than 20KSF.

Installation

Like all plural component polyurethanes, CJGrout 30NHL installation uses high pressure impingement mixing. The system pressures are approximately 1000psi. However once the material leaves the mixing tip, it goes to atmospheric pressure.

The grout expands up to 18 times its liquid volume during the expansion phase. However, if there is any back pressure, the grout will end up denser. 30NHL excels in low mobility grouting applications. To achieve this, the rise time is substantially longer than the gel time. This means that 30NHL continues to expand after it stops being able to flow. However, this does not mean that it is uncontrollable.

Plural component geotechnical polyurethane raw material is transported and stored in IBC totes. Because of this universal packaging and ease of transport, significant quantities of material can be stockpiled onsite. A single semi load of IBC totes will provide up to 350CY of in place material. This allows for placing significant quantities of material with very little transportation and logistics related risks.
