Jacksonville Pipe Abandonment
The Job
This pipe abandonment project is located in Jacksonville, Florida, and was for the Jacksonville Electric Authority. This public utility provides both electrical and wet utility service to the Jacksonville area. As part of the Lofberg Drive Pump Station project, the general contractor had to abandon 2375 linear feet of 16 inch forcemain.

Filling the forcemain with CJFill-Ultra Lightweight cellular grout.
The Challenge
To manage costs and minimize disruption, the customer wanted to minimize the number of placement points. Placement points are not only time consuming to excavate, bulkhead, and move between, but each hole in the ground is a risk for utility strikes and traffic disruption.
The Solution
CJGeo proposed 30lb/cuft CJFill-Ultra Lightweight cellular grout as the solution to minimize the number of placement points. Based on the project volume and wet batch generation method, the customer only had to the pipe at one point near the middle. CJGeo mobilized a wet batch cellular concrete crew to the site, and they filled each of the two runs in a single day onsite.
